<h1 class="ql-align-center">Nobel Literature Prize 2021</h1><h2> </h2><h2>Context:</h2> <ul><li>The&nbsp;2021 Nobel Prize in Literature&nbsp;has been awarded&nbsp;to novelist Abdulrazak Gurnah</li></ul> <h2>About:</h2> <ul><li>The Nobel Prize was set up when businessman Alfred Nobel died and left the majority of his fortune to the establishment of prizes in physics, chemistry, physiology or medicine, literature, and peace.</li></ul>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<ul><li class="ql-align-justify">His will stated that the prizes should be awarded to those who shall have conferred the greatest benefit to humankind.</li></ul> <ul><li class="ql-align-justify">Since the 1st&nbsp;Nobel Prizes were awarded in 1901, they have been awarded annually. It was not awarded, mostly during World War I and II.</li></ul> <ul><li class="ql-align-justify">A Nobel Prize cannot be awarded posthumously.</li></ul> <h2 class="ql-align-justify">Abdulrazak Gurnah:</h2> <ul><li>Abdulrazak Gurnah, who was born in Zanzibar and now lives in the UK.</li></ul> <ul><li>He became the fifth African writer to win the Nobel Prize for Literature, after Nigerian writer Wole Soyinka (1986), Egyptian Naguib Mahfouz (1988), and South African writers Nadine Gordimer (1991) and John M Coetzee (2003).</li></ul> <ul><li>He is the author of 10 novels and several short stories and essays, including Memory of Departure (1987), Pilgrims Way (1988), Paradise (1994), By the Sea (2001), Desertion (2005), Gravel Heart (2017) and, most recently, Afterlives (2020).</li></ul> <ul><li>His writing explores the immigrant experience and how exile and loss shape identities and cultures.</li></ul> <h2>Zanzibar region:</h2> <ul><li>Zanzibar is an autonomous region of Tanzania. </li></ul> <ul><li>It is composed of the Zanzibar Archipelago in the Indian Ocean, 25–50 kilometers off the coast of the mainland.</li></ul> <ul><li>It consists of many small islands and two large ones:</li><li class="ql-indent-1">Umguja&nbsp;(the main island, referred to informally as Zanzibar)</li><li class="ql-indent-1">Pemba Island.</li></ul> <ul><li>The capital is Zanzibar City, located on the island of Unguja.</li></ul> <ul><li>Its historic centre, Stone Town, is a World Heritage Site.</li></ul> <img src="https://sunyaias-resources.s3.ap-south-1.amazonaws.com/content/3a8e6d2b-63ac-11ec-8965-f374c3f4be17.png">
