<h1 class="ql-align-center">International Coffee Day 2021</h1> <h2>Context:</h2> <ul><li>Every year,&nbsp;International Coffee Day&nbsp;is celebrated on&nbsp;1st October&nbsp;by member states of the International Coffee Organization (ICO), dozens of coffee associations, and coffee lovers across the world.</li></ul> <h2>About:</h2> <ul><li>Its objective is to identify the plight of the farmers of coffee beans and expressing our love for the aromatic drink.</li></ul> <ul><li>In 2014, member states of the International Coffee Organization (ICO) designated 1st October as International Coffee Day, and next year, on 1st October 2015, First International Coffee Day was observed.</li></ul> <ul><li>International Coffee Day theme 2021 is ‘Coffee’s Next Generation’.</li></ul> <h2>India and Coffee:</h2> <ul><li class="ql-align-justify">India is the third-largest producer and exporter of coffee in Asia and the sixth-largest producer and fifth-largest exporter of coffee in the world.</li></ul> <ul><li class="ql-align-justify">Coffee production in India is dominated in the hill tracts of South Indian states, with Karnataka accounting for 71%, followed by Kerala with 21% and Tamil Nadu (5%).</li></ul> <ul><li class="ql-align-justify">Indian coffee is said to be the finest coffee grown in the shade rather than direct sunlight anywhere in the world.</li></ul> <ul><li class="ql-align-justify">Almost&nbsp;80% of Indian coffee is exported.</li></ul>
