<h1 class="ql-align-center">All-India Quarterly Establishment-based Employment Survey (AQEES)</h1> <h2>Context:</h2> <ul><li>The results of the Quarterly Employment Survey (QES) for the First Quarter (FQ) of 2021 were issued by the Labour Bureau,&nbsp;Ministry of Labour and Employment (April to June).</li></ul> <h2>About: </h2> <ul><li>The AQEES provide frequent quarterly updates about the employment and related variables of establishments, in both organized and unorganized segments of 9 selected sectors</li></ul> <ul><li>9 selected sectors are:</li><li class="ql-indent-1">Manufacturing</li><li class="ql-indent-1">Construction</li><li class="ql-indent-1">Trade</li><li class="ql-indent-1">Transport</li><li class="ql-indent-1">Education</li><li class="ql-indent-1">Health</li><li class="ql-indent-1">Accommodation and Restaurant</li><li class="ql-indent-1">IT/ BPO</li><li class="ql-indent-1">Financial Services.</li></ul> <ul><li>The goal is to help the government develop a "strong national policy on employment."</li></ul> <h2>Findings of Report:</h2> <ul><li class="ql-align-justify">In the first quarter of this fiscal (April-June 2021) 27% of the establishments surveyed reported COVID-19-related retrenchment (reduction).&nbsp;</li></ul> <ul><li class="ql-align-justify">However, the overall employment numbers had increased by 29% from the base year of 2013-14.</li></ul> <ul><li class="ql-align-justify">Top employment sectors are:</li><li class="ql-indent-1 ql-align-justify">IT/BPO sector (152%),</li><li class="ql-indent-1 ql-align-justify">Health (77%)</li><li class="ql-indent-1 ql-align-justify">Transport (68%).</li></ul> <ul><li class="ql-align-justify">There was a&nbsp;decline in employment&nbsp;in trade (25%) and accommodation and restaurants (13%).</li></ul> <ul><li class="ql-align-justify">The number of female workers showed a decline too, from 31% in the Sixth Economic Survey to 29%.</li></ul> <img src="https://sunyaias-resources.s3.ap-south-1.amazonaws.com/content/6281297c-4b0e-11ec-82f5-9d2af53a8eac.png">
